Apple Valley is located 12 miles south of Minneapolis. Total population is around 45,000 people. The City has a total area of 17.7 square miles with only 0.4 square miles of water. Apple Valley is home of the Minnesota Zoo and the city was named the 24th best place to live by Money Magazine in 2008. All the schools in Apple Valley are operated by District 196. There are six elementary, three middle and three high schools.
Year to date through August Apple Valley has had 482 closed sales; this is up 8.6% from last year numbers. The median sale price is down 21.4% to $170,500, the average sale price is down 18.4% to $195,071 and the average days on market is up 3.4% to 145 days.
Year to date through August the Twin Cities as a whole has had 29,105 closed sales; this is up 13.5% from last year. The median sale price is down 18.5% to $167,000, the average sale price is down 19.2% to $197,930 and average days on market for the Twin Cities has held steady year to year at 143 days.
