Burnsville is located 15 miles south of downtown Minneapolis. Total population is around 60,000 people. The City has a total area of 26.7 square miles with 1.9 square miles of water.  
 
The City of Burnsville has over 1,800 acres of parkland and borders the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge to the north.
 
Most of the schools in Burnsville are made up of school district 196.  District 196 is spread out among Burnsville and neighboring communities of Eagan and Savage.
 
One of the most famous residents of Burnsville is U.S. Ski Team World Cup Champion of 2008 and 2009 Lindsey Vonn.
 
Year to date through October Burnsville has had 565 closed sales; this is up 8.9% from last year numbers. The median sale price is down 16.7% to $172,500, the average sale price is down 12.8% to $184,620 and the average days on market is up 1.1% to 141 days on market. For listings as of October 1st,  27.3% of the active homes on the market in Burnsville are considered to be lender mediated (short sale or foreclosure). Brooklyn Center ranks the highest at 59.8% and the Mendota/ Lilydale/ Mendota Heights communities rank the lowest at 6.7% of their inventory is considered to be lender mediated.  See more on this at Q3 2009 Market Update
 
Year to date through October the Twin Cities as a whole has had 37,900 closed sales; this is up 13.4% from last year. The median sale price is down 16% to $168,000, the average sale price is down 17.2% to $199,102 and average days on market for the Twin Cities is down 7.5% to 140 days on market.

Burnsville had a brief downturn there as the housing stock got older.  It is great to see it is on the upswing again.
