Chanhassen is a southwest suburb of the Twin Cities. Total population is around 24,481 people. The City has a total area of 22.9 square miles with 2.1 square miles of water.  
 
Family Circle Magazine named Chanhassen in the top 10 towns to raise a family back in 2007 and Money Magazine named Chanhassen the 16th best place to live in 2005 and ranked the community the #2 Best Place to Live in 2009.
 
Two school districts serve the Chanhassen Community. The Eastern Carver County School District 112 serves about 72% of the students in the area with the remaining attending Minnetonka School District 276. The City of Chanhassen itself has two elementary schools, two middle schools and two high schools, including a the new high school that opened in the fall of 2009. The City also has a kindergarten center and a freshman center along with a number of private schools.
 
Through the end of 2009 Chanhassen had 329 closed sales; this is up 4.1% from last year numbers. The median sale price is down 3.1% to $286,500, the average sale price is down only 5% to $358,146 and the average days on market is up 33% to 142 days on market.
 
Through the end of 2009 the Twin Cities as a whole had 45,185 closed sales; this is up 16.7% from last year. The median sale price is down 14.5% to $168,000, the average sale price is down 15.8% to $199,407 and average days on market for the Twin Cities is down 8.6% to 138 days on market.
