Minnesota MLS Listings

If you’re looking for a safe community to raise your family, you’ll be happy to know that Minnesota MLS has many comfortable nooks to consider. According to the Neighborhood Scout search engine, Wayzata (pronounced “way-zet-ta”) offers the best location to raise your family. As the wealthiest suburb of Minneapolis, Wayzata is also one of the top rated communities in the nation. The grounds have their history as a prominent Indian Village of the Sioux nation. Here they enjoyed the big water surrounding them and ample game. In 1855, pioneer settlers arrived, building a blacksmith shop, a sawmill and a hotel. Wayzata later became a transportation hub and popular vacation destination for people who enjoyed picnicking, boating and fishing. In the twenties and thirties, Wayzata was “cottage country” for those living in Minneapolis and St. Paul. Downtown shops and retail center sprouted up in the fifties, luring more and more residents to this section of Minnesota MLS territory.

Today, nearly half the people living in this part of Minnesota MLS listings are married couples and 20% of married couples have children under age 18 living with them. Most Minnesotans living here are whites of Irish or Italian descent. The median household income for a family is $96,859, which tanks Wayzata in the top 15% of wealthiest communities nationwide. Here you may choose from seven elementary schools, three middle schools and one high school. The people who live here are well-educated and most housing is owner-occupied, not to mention they receive 100/100 on the Crime Index, making it one of the safest cities in the country. Most residents work as managers, sales reps, technical support assistants, clerks, executive positions and manufacturers. You can expect to pay a minimum of $90,000 and maximum of $1.8 million for a home here, with most single family residences falling between $180,000 - $541,000.

Stillwater is another one of the Minnesota MLS regions we refer a lot of families to. The motto of the city is “the birthplace of Minnesota” because it was here that regional leaders met to discuss incorporating Minnesota into the United States in 1848. Ten years later, this area – located just across the St. Croix River on the other side of Wisconsin – became the 32nd U.S. state. In the early years, Stillwater held the state’s first prison and home to a thriving lumbering industry.

Today this Minnesota MLS city is dotted with numerous bookstores, antique shops, historical sites, restaurants and scenic places to gaze out over the St. Croix River valley. The neighborhoods are quiet and most families have children. The demographics here are mostly white Irish or Italians, but there are also a small percentage of Hispanics and East Asians. Children enrolled in schools here have above average reading and mathematics scores compared to the rest of the state and half of the people living here have a college degree or higher. This suburban and rural setting offers mostly medium sized 3-4 bedroom single family residences built from 1970-1994. You can also find some rowhouses, attached homes and small apartment buildings here too. Like Wayzata, you can find the average home for $180,000 - $541,000 here.

Of course, this is just a small sampling of what Minnesota has to offer families. Some other Minnesota MLS neighborhoods to consider include: Plymouth, Excelsior, Eden Prairie, Eagan, Grant, Hugo (Lino Lakes), North Oaks and Edina.
